Gothic 3 ge3.ini
- date: September 6, 2010
I am trying to enable the command console and I am having trouble. I am in this location(C:\Program files\Aspryr\Gothic3\ini). I have changed the false to true and the problem is that it will not let me save the file. I am trying to save it as a ini file. The message I am receiving when ask if I want to replace the file is "Cannot create the C:\Program files\Aspryr\Gothic3\ini file. Make sure that the path and file name are correct". I know this is an older game so I hope somebody will read this and help out please.
Gothic 3 with 1.74patch + Custom ini = Ultra Quality
- date: July 13, 2010
Very easy to do and AMAZING results...
What you will be doing is patching the steam version to 1.74 (from 1.6) and replacing the existing ge3.ini file with a custom one.
Before you get started, read this article found at www.worldofgothic.com
"Gothic 3 graphics at the limit with CP v1.74 and PCGH-Ultra-Config 05.07.2010 um 22:03
The German website PCGames Hardware (PCGH) now offers a configured ini-file with which the graphics of Gothic 3 CP v1.74 can be brought to an extreme graphical quality never seen before.
This however comes at a price: At maximum detail and tweaked ini, Gothic 3 uses up to 5 Gigabyte of memory. Also at that level Gothic 3 needs a very strong CPU: PCGH recommends using an overclocked quad core…
On the PCGH website you will find more than 30 screenshots made at 2560 x 1600 resolution using the latest Geforce GPU in a high-end PC also featuring an SSD. When playing G3 this results i

swkotor.ini on Mac to enable cheats
- date: July 20, 2012
I was having a hard time figuring out how to enable cheats on the Mac version of KOTOR. I eventually figured it out and wanted to post this to help people in the future who might be looking for the same info.
I'm running Mac OSX Lion (10.7.4) but, this will probably work for Mountain Lion too.
The trick is that Mac OSX hides the "Library" directory so you can't see it. Here are the steps you can follow to enable cheats for KOTOR:
Quit the game and make sure Steam isn't running.
Open the Finder and go to the menu bar at the top and select Go > Go to Folder
Type /Users/username/Library and click Go. (change "username" to your username!)
This will show the hidden Library folder. Now, look for a folder named Application Support.
Inside the Application Support folder you'll see a folder named Knights of the Old Republic
Inside this folder you will find the swkotor.ini file. MAKE A BACKUP OF THIS FILE FIRST!
Open the swkotor.ini file in TextEdit
Gothic 3 Creative ALchemy Bug
- date: October 15, 2010
When enabling Creative ALchemy for Gothic 3, no matter what settings are used in ALchemy, there are major texture issues in the game (many textures for the sides of buildings are black or very blurry).
Does everyone who uses ALchemy with Gothic 3 experience this?
Is there any way besides ALchemy to get 3D sound in Gothic 3 on Windows 7? It sounds amazing once ALchemy is enabled, but it's basically unplayable with those huge texture issues.
I've tried increasing the various cache values in the INI file for both sound and textures, but it didn't make a difference.
When I don't use ALchemy, the sound becomes so much less spacial, and dialog is very annoying with headphones because my character's speech constantly shifts between the left and right speakers very quickly. It does not do this when using ALchemy, and it sounds far better.
gothic 3 graphical corruption unless run as administrator
- date: October 17, 2010
if I try to run gothic 3 steam without running it as an admin (I had to set it on the .exe ) I will have bizzarre texture problems where the textures do not behave correctly on buildings. It doesn't seem as if one thing should have anything to do with the other, but I have run multiple tests.
If I disable administrator running and set the distance (low detail) to off the corruption disappears as well. But in order to use low detail on high I have to have run as administrator set to checked.
This makes no sense. Can anyone help?

Gothic 3 some questions
- date: October 28, 2010
Hi guys, I have some questions regarding this game, let me explain:
Currently im lvl 20, but I just suck. Honestly, most of enemies can kill me with 2-3 hits, and boars or wolves are the wrost. In the arena I can still do something, but out of it, when you have to face 5-6 enemies at same time is imposible. What I do is run, and turn, hit with the bow, and run, and hit, and maybe sometimes only one enemy is following me, so I can kill him and then start all over again. thats pathetic.
I migth understand I can do that frist level,s but im level 20 and no improvement.
The thing is, im triying to make a mage and i have:
-130 in strength
-120 in hunting
-50 in AK
The rest below 50
As for skills/spells/perks I have:
-sumon animals on target. Actually I purchased thisone thinking the spell WILL create his own animals, but not, it just send nearby enemies to the target, wich is pretty useless, since I can do that without the spell
-Ligthing. Not very usefull spell, lit
Gothic fans will be disappointed with Arcania
- date: October 15, 2010
I'm sorry to inform you that this is not what fans of the series have come to expect. If you're a crazy fan like myself, you'll play it anyway to see where they're doing with the story, but...
Basically, this is "Gothic Lite". The story telling is of a similar quality but the game play is "generic console RPG" at best.
THIS IS NOT A FREEFORM GAME.
-The game resembles Final Fantasy style story and area design in that you are stuck in one area until you have solved the main quest in that area, then are allowed to continue. Almost every cave is designed to be a self contained area. They have two paths, an "entrance" where you are able to walk through, and an "exit" which is blocked off by a raised area or a door with a level on the other side.
-There are no factions to choose from and your choice of action has little to no effect on the world. You WILL join certain factions and you WILL support certain people because that's what the area
