Who Greenlighted 2013: The world may have ended, but the bad movies remain!
- date: January 2, 2013
It's a new year with a new batch of awful awfulness and delightful awfulness. But before we look to the future, we must respect the past and go over the amazeballs bombs of 2012!
Where would we be if the world didn't have The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure? Probably with plenty of lunar colonies. Even though Oogieloves came out in August, it retroactively set mankind back decades. The brainchild of a marketing genius who decided to give the world a movie where 1 year olds could interact with the screen while their parents paid attention to their iPhones, the concept failed to catch on as any child older than 3 instantly got bored, and all children younger got bored after 30 minutes or so. It flopped hard, making just $445,000 in its opening weekend. Oogieloves beat out Delgo as the record setting worst box office performance for a film opening in over 2000 theaters. Oogieloves finished with just over $1 million gross, costing $20 million and spending $40 on marketing
Nintendo's E3 for 2013 will have to be PERFECT.
- date: January 5, 2013
Just because every game (at launch) doesn't look amazing doesn't mean later in its life games won't look amazing. Let's wait until we see a title that's actually had time and effort put into it, not launch games that developers rushed.
Screw HD, I'm ready for virtual reality!
- date: June 27, 2012
Nintendo wants games to be immersive (wiimote, balance board, wiimote attachments, wii motion plus) etc.
They had the right idea with Virtual Boy but the timing sucked and black and white, or red and red, whatever that color was, didn't cut it.
Since head-tracking can be done so easily there is no reason not to have this next gen.
First off, we really need a "wii-Sphere"
and second, there is no reason why this can't be a reality:
Sony is already bringing out 3d VR gaming glasses and it's time for Nintendo to realize its destiny by becoming the revolution...Plus it may make people with mental disabilities better like it did for the Lawnmower Man!
BIG NEWS regarding Star Trek: DS9 & Voyager HD remastering (see page 10)
- date: April 4, 2013
Hi everybody, I'm here to bug you about Star Trek again!
In addition to guiding the ship over in TVIV, I'm also a contributor to TrekCore.com, one of the primary Star Trek news sites covering the current efforts to bring Star Trek: The Next Generation, and the other television series to a high-definition Blu-ray release. We also have pleasant working relationships with the studio and team producing the new feature-length documentary bonus features on the TNG and Enterprise Blu-ray sets, as we've featured several lengthy interviews with the key players in the current production team, as well as several Trek cast members and past production supervisors, etc.
For those of you who don't know the backstory, the shows were filmed on quality film stock, but edited and mastered on basically VHS-quality videotape, something that can't just be "upconverted" to HD - CBS is currently spending a massive amount of time and money going back to the original film negatives and rebuilding each
2013 Powered by STEAMworks games
- date: January 12, 2011
What is STEAMworks?
STEAMworks is an API for gaming developers. They can use it for free to include a set of STEAM features and solutions.
More detailed info: http://www.steampowered.com/steamworks/
So, if a game includes STEAMworks, what exactly means?
All the games listed below have ONE OR MORE features mentioned above. See their respective store pages for more individual information.
But why some games are marked as "* only STEAM version"?
A game including STEAMworks features means you MUST use STEAM in order to play the game. Some developers don't want to force their customers and they prefer to develop different versions of the game. So in these cases, ONLY the version bought on STEAM have STEAMworks features.

GENeva CONvention 2013 BADGE PRE-REGISTRATION IS OPEN!
Every year I would come to this subforum (wherever it was at the time) expecting to find a rollicking and intense discussion about THE BEST NERD CONVENTION IN THE WORLD, and basically every year the thread original post would be something like "hey guys Im going anyone else going."
THIS DOES NOTHING TO CONVEY THE EXCITEMENT OF GEN CON FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NEVER BEEN!!! JUST LOOK AT ALL THE THINGS YOU MIGHT EXPECT TO RUN INTO AT THE CONVENTION:
REALLY BIG BANNERS!
SWORDS FOR HITTING!
SO MANY BOOKS!
SO MANY SHIRTS! (these shirts are about 1/100th as nerdy as the average shirt available at the convention, though; think "slogans you would be embarrassed to hear someone say, let alone wear on a shirt" and "500 Doctor Who designs")
SO MANY OTHER MISCELLANEOUS THINGS TO BUY!

Network Pilot Season 2013: What We'll Be Whining About in a Year
- date: February 13, 2013
It's that time of the year again, folks! Time to watch a bunch of big stars get attached to pilots that a vast majority of us will never see, and see a bunch of shows that sound awesome/terrible get picked up and tossed around like a baby at a bris. I'll pack all the info I have (read: copy/pasted info from Deadline, links are in the network headers for the latest updates) into the first two posts, ABC/CBS/CW in this first post, and NBC/Fox in the next one, and then in the third one I'll add in commentary about what I think will get picked up, trends I've noticed, and other fun facts. So without any further ado, let me show you the pilots from ABC and CBS!
