Game crashes in Windows XP
- date: January 13, 2004
I have windows XP with a Radeon 9000 Pro video card, a 2.4g processor and for some reason my titans constantly crashes. It usually goes to the desktop and i get error "aom has encountered problems and needs to stop" or something along those lines or it just freezes in the middle of the game and i have to restart my pc. I have followed everything in Microsofts support page and nothing seems to help. I even reformatted my pc just for the game and still it won't play. I've tried all the patches, updates, not updating and nothing seems to work. Anybody else having this problem?? I love this game and i just want to play....

Windows 7 vs Windows XP performance in Black Ops. What the heck?
- date: November 23, 2010
I saw some people saying the game ran better under Windows XP and since I still had an old install on a spare drive I booted it up, installed Steam to the same drive as my W7 Steam install, renamed of course.
First of all, this comparison was done on the same exact system with the same settings, both operating systems were thoroughly cleaned and installed with the latest and greatest drivers.
System Info: Windows 7 64bit

Every other setting default, auto, or on.

No Windows XP Support on a budget title?
- date: August 15, 2012
I've just gotta say that I would have bought this game except for the fact that it only supports DX 10/11.
That seems to be a huge mistake in judgement for a budget title. People who buy cheap games often have cheap computers. Some of these are kids and some of them are adults who just don't have the money to spend, but there's a ton of people out there that still have Windows XP because they have found no reason to spend $200 to upgrade the operating system for little to no real benefit. By not supporting Windows XP you lose probably at least 20% of your potential sales, not to mention the bad reviews you will get because of disgruntled gamers that are forced to upgrade just to play the game and put the whole $200 worth of blame on your shoulders when they are not completely thrilled with the game.

Love how people pull stats out of the air.
"The steam hardware survrey shows that 43% of users use Windows XP 32 bit. More than double any other operating system."
Fuck windows XP. I hope more and more games are made like this. This is how DX10 should have been, it's to bad alot of you lames never jumpped on vista for whatever super computer geek reason. Oh my comp askes me if my action is ok everytime i do it oh noos. -_- get over it. But now we have Windows 7 and what reasons do you have for not jumpping in now? Embrace the new and get over the old.

Why do people refuse to update from Windows XP?
- date: November 24, 2011
Not judging in anyway because I went right back to xp because of vista. But windows 7 is a great OS and from my point of view is a easy to use low impact OS. So why do people still shun it and stick with XP even though some games don't even support it anymore?
Once again no hate no flamewars here, people have there reasons and I'd like to know them.
