Proof positive: IWNET/Steam servers corrupt
- date: November 29, 2009
Last week, while traveling, I took my computer with me so I could play online.
We went to Biloxi, MS to visit my wife's family for Thanksgiving. In the evenings my plan was to play COD:MW2 online.
When I last played MW2 I was a rank of 33. I worked hard the week prior to get to that level. As a 48 year old family man, I don't have all the time in the world to spend on the PC doing re-leveling and/or prestige. All I care about is leveling once and having the guns.
The first night I was able to play while at my hotel. The only difference was that my hotel NAT was set to STRICT, whereas my home is OPEN for the game. But I was able to play with no problems what-so-ever.
Just before I ended my night I had a crash. Seems my video cards were starving for some power. The very next day my power supply died. I replaced it with no problem and was up by the evening.
As soon as I logged on to multiplayer and pressed PLAY, I noticed my rank had been reset to one. I had lost everything. Upon som

Steam servers are too busy. Error 55. Halp
- date: August 15, 2012
Hello! I pre-ordered this game right before it came out, and it will not let me play it. When I click to start the game, a box saying "Completing installation" pops up and goes up to 1%.
Then I get a message that says "Steam servers are too busy to handle your request.error 55."
All my other games download fine, and I installed the service client. Can anyone help?
"Steam beta must be running to make use of Find Servers" Error Fix
- date: July 24, 2010
Since the last update, I don't seem to be able to use the find servers on the CS:S menu.
It says "Steam beta must be running to make use of Find Servers", but steam is running.
Tried restarting it and still no success, any ideas?
Another "The Steam servers are currently too busy to handle your request."
- date: July 24, 2010
Whenever I try to install CSS or TF2 through right clicking the game and choosing install steam gives me the error "the Steam servers are currently too busy to handle your request." This has been like this for the past week, so far this problem is only with CSS and TF2, Alien Swarm installed fine.
What I've tried:
Changing my download region
Reinstalling steam by deleting everything except steamapps and steam.exe
If anyone else is also experiencing this problem or has any suggestions on how to fix it, please post.
Counterstrike: Steam Beta must be running to make use of find servers
- date: July 29, 2010
All of the sudden when I click on "find servers" in Counterstrike Source, I get "Steam Beta must be running to make use of find servers"
I tried going to Steam Preferences, and then Opting In to steam betas, but that didn't work, plus every time I try to open steam now it tries to update then tells me that it can't connect to the internet.
"steam servers too busy"
- date: May 16, 2011
so I bought the game a few days ago, on my laptop at my girlfriend's house. I got the error when trying to install "steam servers too busy to handle request, try again later". I figured it was due to her crappy internet.
Tried again the next day, same thing, and now for the last 3-4 days it's been the same thing, both on my laptop and my desktop on my home connection as well. have tried restarting steam, system, everything. other games install and update fine.
Steam servers refuse to download Skyrim, but will download every other game.
- date: August 30, 2012
So I wanted to do a clean install of Skyrim, scrape my mod install and start over. I uninstalled Skyrim via Steam, deleted the leftover files from the hard drive, but now any time I try to install Skyrim is says "the servers are too busy try again in a few minutes" - it has been telling me this since last night. I've tried installing other games from Steam and all my other games seem to be fine, it only appears to be Skyrim that won't download. It won't even let me install it from my DVD, telling me the servers are too busy. I've tried changing servers, like 10 different servers and they all give me the same error.
How do I fix this as I would really like to reinstall Skyrim!
