Steam servers are too busy. Error 55. Halp
- date: August 15, 2012
Hello! I pre-ordered this game right before it came out, and it will not let me play it. When I click to start the game, a box saying "Completing installation" pops up and goes up to 1%.
Then I get a message that says "Steam servers are too busy to handle your request.error 55."
All my other games download fine, and I installed the service client. Can anyone help?
"Steam beta must be running to make use of Find Servers" Error Fix
- date: July 24, 2010
Since the last update, I don't seem to be able to use the find servers on the CS:S menu.
It says "Steam beta must be running to make use of Find Servers", but steam is running.
Tried restarting it and still no success, any ideas?
Another "The Steam servers are currently too busy to handle your request."
- date: July 24, 2010
Whenever I try to install CSS or TF2 through right clicking the game and choosing install steam gives me the error "the Steam servers are currently too busy to handle your request." This has been like this for the past week, so far this problem is only with CSS and TF2, Alien Swarm installed fine.
What I've tried:
Changing my download region
Reinstalling steam by deleting everything except steamapps and steam.exe
If anyone else is also experiencing this problem or has any suggestions on how to fix it, please post.
Counterstrike: Steam Beta must be running to make use of find servers
- date: July 29, 2010
All of the sudden when I click on "find servers" in Counterstrike Source, I get "Steam Beta must be running to make use of find servers"
I tried going to Steam Preferences, and then Opting In to steam betas, but that didn't work, plus every time I try to open steam now it tries to update then tells me that it can't connect to the internet.
"steam servers too busy"
- date: May 16, 2011
so I bought the game a few days ago, on my laptop at my girlfriend's house. I got the error when trying to install "steam servers too busy to handle request, try again later". I figured it was due to her crappy internet.
Tried again the next day, same thing, and now for the last 3-4 days it's been the same thing, both on my laptop and my desktop on my home connection as well. have tried restarting steam, system, everything. other games install and update fine.
Steam servers refuse to download Skyrim, but will download every other game.
- date: August 30, 2012
So I wanted to do a clean install of Skyrim, scrape my mod install and start over. I uninstalled Skyrim via Steam, deleted the leftover files from the hard drive, but now any time I try to install Skyrim is says "the servers are too busy try again in a few minutes" - it has been telling me this since last night. I've tried installing other games from Steam and all my other games seem to be fine, it only appears to be Skyrim that won't download. It won't even let me install it from my DVD, telling me the servers are too busy. I've tried changing servers, like 10 different servers and they all give me the same error.
How do I fix this as I would really like to reinstall Skyrim!
Some Games Won't Launch. Steam Servers "Too Busy"
- date: April 26, 2011
Yes, yes - this error again.
But... For the life of me I can't figure out how to get rid of it!
I have 9 games that have all reached the 99% mark, or get very close, and have given up at the last hurdle. -- http://i54.tinypic.com/152j868.png
I have tried the standard deletion of AppUpdateStats.blob and ClientRegistry.blob. I have also tried to verify the game cache on all games.
Whenever I try to launch a game it will either:
-- Bring up a dialog box stating the Steam Servers are too busy.
-- Bring up the update window for 3-5 seconds and then show the dialog box above.
Any ideas/help on resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated through the text-based love I can give and some low rep-power, if I have enough to give out before I'm told I'm giving too much away.
Steam Servers too busy to handle your request Bug
- date: October 12, 2011
When I attempt to launch Portal 2 on my iMac, my steam begins by "Validating Steam files" wherein it completes within a moment and the message "The Steam servers are currently too busy to handle your request. Please try again in a few minutes."
While normally I would take this as being a sign of servers having trouble, I've been attempting to launch Portal 2 in three seperate incidents in the last month and getting the same problem. I doubt a month classifies as a 'few minutes'. What more, I cannot reinstall Portal 2 because it won't allow me to uninsall the game through Deleting All Local Content.
Instead, my most recent attempt at that has force Portal 2 into a state of "Portal 2 - Download Paused" upon my library even though all the game files are clearly on my hard drive still. Turning steam on and off won't change anything and neither will rebooting the computer.
If anyone has had a similar experience and knows how to get past this, please
